No! Detrios is partners with each DAX-supported vendor that offers a partner program and uses  only manufacturer-supported APIs to ensure the only impact DAX has on your existing systems is a positive one!

DAX is an on-premise solution. This is primarily because most access control systems are deployed on-premise and do not allow inbound connections and commands from external networks.

DAX and Access Control

Great question! DAX was designed based on our 15+ years experience in the access control industry, and security is our top priority with DAX.  DAX allows you to easily configure what we call “overrides” (any event or action in the access control system that might unlock/lock a reader) and decide if that event is a higher or lower priority than DAX.
The easily configured priority structure allows you to configure DAX to react in a consistent manner based on your security policies.
For example, lockdowns, officer manual unlocks/locks, and daily building unlock schedules/open hours can be set as a higher priority than DAX so that DAX will not override these commands.

On the other hand, unintended reader mode changes like an inadvertent panel download can be overridden by DAX to re-open a room or building if an event is in progress when this happens.

Yes! DAX can be configured to send email notifications when connections are broken and re-established.
To set up notifications, login to the DAX website and from the Options menu select Notifications.

No! DAX doesn’t rely on pre-defined, rigid naming conventions to match rooms and readers. Rather, you configure mappings between rooms and readers, allowing many-to-many mappings. For example, you can easily unlock a classroom as well as 3 perimeter entrances to the building, and the same perimeter entrances can be tied to each interior space. DAX does all the work of merging schedules to ensure the right doors are open at the right times, even when there are last minute changes.

DAX and Event Management

DAX allows you to configure control for only certain Event Types, Statuses (e.g., requested vs. reserved/approved), and rooms. This allows you to deploy DAX across campus in a controlled manner as you are able to coordinate and provide training to students, staff, and faculty.
